Adopt a Momma Goat!

Animals are an integral part of vibrant permaculture systems and we are excited to welcome our first goats to our farm.

So why goats? Well, because they are a-maaahh-zing creatures. They provide manure for soil fertility, nutritious dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt, soap, oh my!), meat, and clear dense creeping foliage, preparing sites to be replanted with native species or other productive fruiting plants. They happily eat "Poison" Oak, not only clearing it, but also passing on a level of immunity to those consuming the goats’ milk, meaning more nature adventures and less itchy rashes. 

As dedicated no-till organic farmers, we rely heavily on compost to increase soil fertility & provide organic matter throughout our gardens. Manure is a key ingredient in high-quality compost. Goats poop. A lot. And it's really good sh*t. Their manure is high in nitrogen and is easy to handle, especially in comparison with other livestock manure. When they graze out on pasture, they leave fertilizer everywhere they go, improving soil quality in and out of the gardens. In combination with responsible rotational grazing practices, goats are a fantastic way to restore our degraded soils.

Equally as important, goats are sweet, sassy, hilarious, and super cute. Have you ever spent time with baby goats? Well, this could be your chance!

Goats are expensive and we are prepared to invest over $10,000 this first year alone into our first animal husbandry program. This includes invasive species remediation, new fencing, a barn with milking station, holistic medical supplies, organic food and more. We need your help to give these goats their dream life! Support Regenerative Agriculture

After producing white button mushrooms for decades, it’s time for this ocean-front land to serve a new purpose, as a laboratory for agricultural regeneration and renewal. The Mushroom Farm mission is to be an example of regenerative land stewardship, sharing best practices in food, water and energy sectors to inspire the global community.

You are invited to participate in this mission by adopting a garden bed in The Mushroom Farm regenerative vegetable and medicine garden! This is a beautiful way for a group or company to make a deep commitment to regenerative agriculture.

The Mushroom Farm is partnering with local nonprofits to donate excess produce to local food banks and economically impacted communities in our bioregion; prototyping a new model for community resilience.
